in your space: decorated by cristina ramos

The style is very eclectic and is influenced by very different cultural sources. The furniture is almost all vintage, from the 40s and 70s, and have remained original structural elements.

A Maximum warmth. Achieved with lighting that creates intimate and cozy. There’s only overhead light in the dining room in the rest of the house has been used indirectly with floor lamps and table.

Playing with contrasts. In some rooms intentionally breaks the calm atmosphere
provided by the soft colors that add drama with elements such as the wallpaper in the dining room dark tones. Nuevo-Estilo.es

There is just some much I love about Cristina Ramos‘ style and eye for design. The 70s influence, art deco, neo-classicism, bohemian style, and industrial style are all combined. My favorite parts include, but are not limited to…

– the tiled, pattered floors
– mix & match style
– neon
– the retro vibe
– bold colours

And the list goes on!!

in your space: heidi middleton

“We drive further up the hill until we find an unassuming narrow driveway with shared parking spaces. I’m happy to get out of the car. One hour isn’t  long but I want to be in the sun! Heidi has set the table on the patio with a light lunch: goat cheese, olives, cured trout. Classical music is playing softly over the speakers. “The kids are at the beach,” she explains when I tell her how peaceful it is. “Would you like a glass of wine?” she inquires. I nod, taking in my new surroundings. It’s a hot day and I’m in blissful heavens: This is my dream house. Built in the 1940s and at one point occupied by a flamboyant gay fashion designer and a celebrated Australian painter, the house resembles an Italian terraced villa. The entire front of the house facing the bay is open, basking in sunlight throughout the day and displaying breathtaking sunsets at dusk. The walls are covered in smooth white stucco and the windows kept in their original floor to ceiling frames. “The house has a colorful history,” begins Heidi. “We have slowly been ‘chipping away at the diamond’ with small to medium sized renovations and now have plans at council to make some significant changes like adding another story to the top level. I have designed a large room/walk-in closet as part of the new floor.””

in your space: kaelen haworth

Totally inspired by clothing designer Kaelen Haworth’s ridiculous East Village apartment.

In fact, the over-dyed yellow rug in the bedroom actually encouraged the recent purchase of a bright yellow rug from Elte for our kitchen ; )

Next on the list, dream catchers for our bedroom, which I am constantly searching Etsy for but haven’t found the perfect ones yet…

TGIF !!

inspired by: pip & estella

Scrolling through my emails this morning, I came across one from Daily Candy which led me to Pip & Estella

The site is founded by LA-native Sana studied Interior Design at Parsons, The New School in New York City.

“The inspiration for the Pip & Estella boutique comes from a literary classic: the old and worn, yet intriguing and magnetic aesthetic of the Satis House mansion, as described in the Dickens novel, Great Expectations.  In my mind, the aging Satis was a sunlight-filtered world made more lovely by the accumulation of time.

While we do sell decor a la carte, dozens of Pip and Estella “houses” (or curated lot of goods, each with their own identity) have found owners in the U.S. and abroad. I’m happy to say that Pip & Estella is the original place to ‘Buy The House’

At Pip & Estella we travel, scouring markets, shops and estates to bring you unique vintage and antique wares for the home. We’ll create an assortment for you or let you curate your own. One suggestion if we may: decorate boldly.”

The images come from her site here; 1, 2, 3, & 4

Now, it’s time for some yoga… remember Friday’s inspiration ; )

i heart fonts

It’s a new year, a new semester, and time for a new class! I have decided to stray from the interior design program and try something new! It may come as no surprise that I have a crush on all things font, image, layout and graphic design related in general. Sooooo it made perfect sense that the class I take be Layout & Typography I.

After the first class tonight I think I made the right choice. It’s definitely up my alley and it will also be beneficial for my blogging. Annnddd a weekly assignment involves searching Pinterest for favorite images… you had me at Pinterest! Looking forward to falling in love with new fonts ; )
