textures + textiles

Print

I always seem to be drawn to textures and textiles when ever I am looking for inspiration. The gals at the Block Shop { image two } are creating beautiful block dyed scarves and that lace in the first, used in Marissa Webbs Spring/Summer ’13 collection, is so delicately beautiful. It’s hand spun and hand woven from genuine natural Indian cotton. In addition to hand weaving the base fabric, fabric artisans hand embroider and hand cut eyelets – perfect! Happy Sunday xx

easy tiger

tiger

Obviously, tigers are all the rage. They are everywhere from clothing, to jewelery, to home accessories! For a quick { inexpensive } fix I picked up this Zara Tiger-Print Blouse that I am in love with. And, if you’re up for spending a bit more, you could always splurge on an iconic Kenzo Tiger Embroidery Sweatshirt { well actually you probably can’t because they are eternally sold out ! } Or, for something in between, be inspired by the above. xx

at the library

Wouldn’t it be nice to imagine days spent lazing around the library in a big leather club chair; reading your favourite books, sipping on a coffee, making endless lists…? I wish!

Snowed in over the weekend, I did just finish up one of my new favorites { a major tearjerker } The Fault In Our Stars. SUCH an amazing book. I highly recommend this young-adult love story. In fact, I highly recommend anything by author John Green. xx

Ok, so gearing up for a comeback is not such an easy task. There’s a lot of umm what if I can’t do it, ahhh what if it’s not like it was before et cetera, et cetera. Step one, I suppose, would be to get rid of those negative thoughts right. Ok, so then what? Step two, find inspiration in new ways. Queue stumbling upon Allison Watkins. California-based Allison Watkins is an artist whose work combines art and fashion in an very intriguing and inspiring new way! I love the idea of bringing your carefully curated closet out from behind closed doors. Why not let each zig – zag, each polka – dot, and splash of colour come to life! Allison says;

I’m mainly attracted to the color, pattern, and texture of material – it’s so seductive.  This is partly what drew me to the closet as a subject to embroider. A closet can be full of memories, and the eclectic nature of a persons wardrobe is what draws me to it.

I absolutely adore it and hope you are feeling inspired on this fresh Wednesday morning! xx

resort life

I am in love with everything about Figue. Stephanie von Watzdorf has designed a year-round-vacation-ready collection meant to be worn any place any time;

Figue (pronounced fig) is a new luxury collection for women created by Stephanie von Watzdorf. Named for the ancient fruit Stephanie enjoyed as a child in Italy, Figue is defined by a global gypsy-meets-jet-set spirit—bringing together the urban energy of Paris and London with the natural beauty of the Mediterranean and Stephanie’s passion for travel. Figue’s core items consist of tunics, kaftans, shirtings, dresses, denim and accessories in colorful, global-inspired prints. One-of-a-kind items—such as reclaimed military jackets, embellished with hand beading, and found limited-edition jewelry and bags—recreate the experience of finding those unique treasures on one’s travels.

Her website is brand new and I don’t doubt that it will be getting a lot of traffic with these amazing vacation inspired style pieces.

statement sweater: animals and more

With fall in full swing it’s time to expand your sweater collection. And what better place to start than with a statement sweater. I’ll feature a few different styles { three to be exact } in the statement sweater department. The first being intarsia, which might conjure up cozy images of hot-apple-cider-being-sipped-fireside-in-a-cabin. Well, these throwback knit tops with the graphics woven into the sweater—in the past usually snowflakes or some type of kitschy wildlife—are bank in a big way!

1. Markus Lupfer – Smacker lips sweater
2. Jil Sander – Whale intarsia camel and wool-blend sweater
3. C Wonder – Bunny Hop intarsia sweater
4. J. Crew – French Hen sweater
5. Joie – Eloise intarsia sweater
