resort life

I am in love with everything about Figue. Stephanie von Watzdorf has designed a year-round-vacation-ready collection meant to be worn any place any time;

Figue (pronounced fig) is a new luxury collection for women created by Stephanie von Watzdorf. Named for the ancient fruit Stephanie enjoyed as a child in Italy, Figue is defined by a global gypsy-meets-jet-set spirit—bringing together the urban energy of Paris and London with the natural beauty of the Mediterranean and Stephanie’s passion for travel. Figue’s core items consist of tunics, kaftans, shirtings, dresses, denim and accessories in colorful, global-inspired prints. One-of-a-kind items—such as reclaimed military jackets, embellished with hand beading, and found limited-edition jewelry and bags—recreate the experience of finding those unique treasures on one’s travels.

Her website is brand new and I don’t doubt that it will be getting a lot of traffic with these amazing vacation inspired style pieces.

the new gypsies

I recently stumbled across these fantastic images on born to be wild

In September 2009 V Magazine published a fashion story featuring Kate Moss called ”Kate and the Gypsies”. The story was shot by the British photographer Ian McKell who has been following the ”The New Gypsies” for over ten years. Le Journal de la Photographie

Ian elevates fashion photography, with the inquiring edge of documentary, in his book The New Gypsies which can be found here.

in your space : erin considine

There’s just something so inspirational about workshop spaces, isn’t there? Ringo, have a banana features jewelry designer Erin Considine; snapping shots of her doing her thing in her little sun-washed studio…

On another note. I keep trying to keep up with posts but the time just gets away from me! I am going to try harder, but the end of summer has brought about birthdays, baby showers, and unexpected vacations { not that I am complaining } ! On top of that, I am about halfway through season one of Friday Night Lights and it’s that time of day ; )

How cuuuttte are these dipped wooden utensils by Erin Souder of House of Earnest. Part of her Have & Make series, Erin takes ordinary objects that you might have lying around the house and spices them up. Definitely a project that I’d like to try! For more details click here ; )

that’s one lovely blog

As I mentioned the other day, the lovely Yasmin of the Hermit Homewares blog nominated me for a One Lovely Blog Award! How amazingly exciting & flattering – eep! Her beautiful blog is very inspiring and filled with beautiful houseware goodies that I am sure everyone will enjoy takeing a peek at it. So, now it’s my turn to keep up the tradition. The Award Rules are as follows;

*Thank the person/people who nominated you and link back to them in your post.
*Share seven possibly unknown things about yourself.
*Nominate up to fifteen or so bloggers you admire.
*Contact the chosen bloggers to let them know and link back to them.

Random Facts about Me:
01. I am absolutely terrified of things that fly, including moths, butterflies, dragonflies, birds etc…
02. My favorite food is hummus; on crackers, potato chips, tortilla chips, a spoon, what ever.
03. I love Excel. If a list needs to be made, if anything needs to be organized… Excel!
04. I believe my little Pug Buddha is the world’s cutest dog. He went blind 2.5 years ago and he is still so brave (while still being incredibly stubborn).
05. I was a vegetarian for about 16 years until recently { in December } I decided to scrap that idea and now chicken and steak are my favs.
06. I love stripes. Seriously, most of my closet looks the same to the untrained eye. Der says all of my striped shirts look identical – and I will probably bring home another one within the next month – but to me they are all unique ; )
07. I love surprising ppl with little notes and gifts. In the mail or in person. Just something small to make someone smile!

Blogs I Love: (In no particular order!)
01. Black Eiffel – My go to for music inspiration, amongst other things. Be sure to check out Rachel’s Music Monday post, when else, every Monday!
02. Smitten Kitchen – FOOD! Delish recipes dreamed up in a 42 square foot circa-1935 half-galley kitchen. I love the photography on this delightful foodie blog.
03. The Alternative Wife – Ethereal inspiration. Think pastels, pink, and lace all with a hazy glow.
04. Emma Dime – I am obsessed with the design, layout, and everything of Emma’s blog. So gorgeous, and always inspirational. I think she loves font as much as I do to!
05. Odessa May Society – Crushin’ hard on this beautiful blog with inspired housewares, décor, design, and a hit of fashion every now and then.
06. Pennyweight – Fashion, décor, music, you name it!
07. Lark & Linen – fellow Torontonian, Jacqueline Clarke, of Lark & Linen is always a go-to.
08. The Reno Project(s) – looking for home décor advice, look no further!
09. Elephantine – making beautiful jewelry and a beautiful blog.
10. Atlantic-Pacific – If I could have one persons closet… Blair Eadie has impeccable taste and a unique style that I love.

Thanks y’all! xx

in your space: heidi middleton

“We drive further up the hill until we find an unassuming narrow driveway with shared parking spaces. I’m happy to get out of the car. One hour isn’t  long but I want to be in the sun! Heidi has set the table on the patio with a light lunch: goat cheese, olives, cured trout. Classical music is playing softly over the speakers. “The kids are at the beach,” she explains when I tell her how peaceful it is. “Would you like a glass of wine?” she inquires. I nod, taking in my new surroundings. It’s a hot day and I’m in blissful heavens: This is my dream house. Built in the 1940s and at one point occupied by a flamboyant gay fashion designer and a celebrated Australian painter, the house resembles an Italian terraced villa. The entire front of the house facing the bay is open, basking in sunlight throughout the day and displaying breathtaking sunsets at dusk. The walls are covered in smooth white stucco and the windows kept in their original floor to ceiling frames. “The house has a colorful history,” begins Heidi. “We have slowly been ‘chipping away at the diamond’ with small to medium sized renovations and now have plans at council to make some significant changes like adding another story to the top level. I have designed a large room/walk-in closet as part of the new floor.””
